One step closer

My house passed its base inspection! Woohoo!!! :D For those unfamiliar with this process (which was me until 2 weeks ago), when you rent a property off base, it has to have a "Life Safety Inspection" by a DoD contractor. I am told the main points of this are to check for smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, broken windows, electrical hazards, etc. I am not completely sure why this is done over here and not in the US, but maybe because the average age of buildings over here is older. I don't know. Anyway, point is, now I am approved to sign the lease and move into my house on Aug 28th - next Friday!!!

I also think I found a new trip destination for the near future. I was looking for something on the Lakenheath web site today and stumbled across this article: http://www.lakenheath.af.mil/news/story.asp?storyID=123163279. First thought: How do I get that job? I could handle traveling to places like that and writing reviews. Second thought: I need to go there! If you know me, you know how I feel about castles, so that part is a given... but castles with secret tunnels?!?!? That is what dreams are made of. PLUS, this is at the same place as the White Cliffs of Dover, which look almost unreal online. Here is a picture:

Yep, definitely need to go there. According to Google, it is just short of 3 hours from here, so it would be nice to have a travel buddy... I'll have to see what I can do about that. I want to go soon, though. I have been in England for 2.5 weeks and have not yet seen a castle, so I'm getting a little itchy. I am also hoping to go to London in the near future, just waiting to hear from Kathryn about whether there is a good time for them soon. So exciting!!!
